After Gary Fisher left a black hole in our hearts, we are introducing another brand of bicycles to the line-up…. ORBEA! Having over 80 years of bicycle building experience, this Spanish company was founded in the 1840′s originally as a gun manufacturer, then became a cycling company in the 1930′s in attempt to diversify. During this last 2008 Olympics Spanish rider Samuel Sánchez won the road race on an Orbea Orca Carbon, and Julien Absalon took the gold medal during the mountain bike race on an Orbea Alma.

On Saturday September 11th, 2011 (Two weeks from now) there will be a chance for you to demo these awesome bicycles at Sac River trail during the 12 or 6 hr Good Time race. If you are not riding drop by just to demo, and watch this epic event!

It is still in progress of being completed,  but the wheel is built up and on the bicycle.

It shows how prevalent these shoes have become in the racing world and the importance of having shoes that actually fit a cyclist foot. Bont has been providing these shoes to a few racers including Bradley Wiggins (Team Sky), the whole Cervélo TestTeam, and even speculation that Lance Armstrong is sporting some non-retail/branded Bonts. Sidi even went as far as to encrust a pair of Ergo 2 Carbon Lite shoes for Thomas Rohregger (Milram) in Swarovski crystal. Drop by and check out some custom carbon shoes. We carry Bont and Shimano for the full custom feel, all you have to choose is what style you like. Also, we carry SIDI, which are not full custom, but great shoes none the less.

Fisher has definitely been an excellent brand, but it is now getting folded into its parent company Trek, keeping all the Fisher lined mountain bikes, so we are clearing out all our Fishers to make room for a new brand. As of now we do not know what will be replacing Fisher, so check back for updates. We will still be a parts dealer, which means if you have a Gary Fisher you can still bring your bike in for warranty issues.

Maarten (In the Orange) and Case (Older Gent) started out in James Town, Virginia and are headed to Portland, Oregon. They stopped by the shop today to get some work done to their bicycles, so we hooked them up and I am guessing they are hanging out here in Springfield for a day or two. Hope they can make it to Portland alright!

Seems that Michael Rogers from Team HTC has won the Tour Of California on a Scott, his time was 33.08’30″! Team HTC ended up winning three of the eight stage race; Mark Cavendish won stage 1 and Tony Martin won the time trial stage 7. It looks like that Scott bicycles have been making a mark all throughout this Tour Of California. I guess the real question is where is Lance and his Trek? Oh, wait he crashed twice and complained to reporters how out of shape he was for this Tour Of California. If you want to get a HTC team kit and UVEX helmet drop by the shop, and pick one up!
