Green Construction

The Problem
As we all know, the world is continuously growing, and with growth comes the need for new inhabitable structures for work, living, and more. The current trend in construction focuses specifically on the lowest cost and follows obsolete building standards. These standards command that the materials used in construction be of the lowest cost and typically of the lowest quality. The main problem with this is there is no concern for the negative environmental impact that is created through the usage of these materials and there is no thought towards the negative impact of the lives that will inhabit these structures.

The Solution
The solution begins with education and the realization that the creation of a structure does not have to have a negative effect on the environment or on the people inside. It is a simple matter of training yourself to think more responsibly about the choices being made, both in construction and otherwise. This project serves as a method of educating others about green construction practices and how it is possible to implement these practices in this region, while under the strict guidance of the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System™. This group exists to promote environmentally conscious building practices and to provide a system for others to follow when constructing or remodeling a structure.
